Hailo is a company which matches taxi drivers and passengers through a smartphone app, enabling people to get registered taxis more conveniently.

They have surveyed over 500 of their cabbies to decide which road signs are completely outdated, irrelevant and cause confusion to road users. They came up with a list of the worst offenders for taxi drivers and we’ve listed our 5 favourites below:

1. Migratory Toad Crossing

Despite its oddness this one is actually providing protection to breeding frogs, who will risk life and limb crossing roads to reach their breeding grounds.

2. Sign Not In Use

Its a bit of a fib this one really, as the sign is in use to tell us specifically that the sign is not in use. Surely no sign at all would be better than this?

3. No Vehicles Carrying Explosives

Whilst we’re sure there are legitimate reasons to do this surely its more sensible that no one does this ever?

4. Risk of Grounding

Not, as the Guardian website tried to convince us, “unfeasibly pointy roads” or as one website suggested “giant moles may pop up under your vehicle at any time”

5. Quiet Road Ends

Does this mean that you may now be as noisy as you like?
