We have taken out ALA Gap insurance on three cars (wife’s, daughter and step daughter) and we had to make a claim folowing step daughter’s car, a 15 month old Lexus CT200H being written off in an accident caused by a foreign lorry driver running into cars queuing for the A2 Bluewater turn-off in Kent. ALA’s claims handling company were excellent, they worked with the insurance company (Admiral) and immediately transferred the GAP amount to us. The total we received was the invoice amount of the car (it was an ex-demonstrator when purchased) including covering the £540 policy excess, exactly as stated. Just one personal observation, I think it is best if you are covering a new car to go for the “Vehicle Replacement Plus” cover. If you are covering an ex-demo or used car, go for the “Back to Invoice Plus” cover, but ALA will advise you. I can certainly say this is a very good company to deal with and will be buying from ALA again. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
