Cost-saving breakdown cover

Without Breakdown Cover, calling for roadside recovery or roadside assistance can be expensive. A one-off vehicle recovery service can cost more than an annual Breakdown policy – UK breakdown cover is a no brainer if you don’t already have it in place from your car insurance provider. With car breakdown insurance, you can save significantly on these potential costs, especially if you’re unfortunate enough to experience multiple breakdowns.

Roadside Assistance

This level provides help at the roadside and if the vehicle can’t be repaired, recovery to the nearest available garage up to 20 miles away. No assistance at or within 1 mile of the home address.

Roadside & Recovery

This level includes everything in the Roadside Assistance level of cover plus if the vehicle can’t be repaired at the roadside, we will arrange recovery to the clients chosen destination along with the driver and up to 6 passengers.

Total UK

This level includes everything in the Roadside & Recovery level of cover plus assistance at or within 1 mile of the home address. For these breakdowns, recovery would be up to 20 miles if the vehicle can’t be repaired immediately.
Car Hire and Overnight Accommodation are also included if the vehicle breaks down more than 25 miles from the home address and cannot be repaired the same day.

Total UK & Europe

This level includes everything in the Total UK level of cover plus cover for trips of up to 31 days to Europe and 60 days in total.

Availability of vehicle Breakdown Cover

ALA Insurance offers Breakdown Cover as a standalone policy or as an optional extra with Extended Car Warranty. The small extra cost is worth it for peace of mind that you’re journey can continue – even if you break down at your home address.

How does breakdown cover work?

Vehicle breakdown cover is a worthwhile insurance policy which means you won’t be left stranded on the roadside if your car breaks down. Depending on the level of cover you choose, recovery experts will either fix your car at the roadside (roadside assistance) or take it to the nearest garage for repairs (recovery). We’ll also help keep you moving with alternative transport options.

Is breakdown cover worth it?

What is Roadside Assistance, and do I need it?

Roadside assistance is offered as part of ALA’s basic cover. Mobile mechanics will come to you and aim to fix your car on the roadside or at your home address. Roadside & Recovery insurance also offers to take your car for repairs at a local garage if it can’t be fixed immediately.

What is covered by roadside assistance?

Mobile mechanics will try and fix your car at the roadside. If this is not possible, you may have to cover towing and repair costs. To avoid a significant towing cost, choose a more comprehensive Breakdown Cover policy.

Can I get break down cover after my cars broken down?

Unfortunately, Breakdown Cover, like most insurance products, can only benefit you if you purchase it in advance of your incident. For the most assurance against significant roadside assistance and recovery costs, make sure to purchase an affordable Breakdown Cover plan when you get a new car.

How does breakdown cover differ from car insurance?

Many car insurance providers offer breakdown cover as an optional extra. If you don’t have this option on your motor insurance policy, you can buy a standalone policy or add it to your Extended Warranty plan to cover the cost of vehicle repairs as well as roadside and recovery bills.
