Looking for summer road trip inspiration?
We asked members of the ALA team to share some of their favourite UK drives:
Bridlington, Yorkshire
Charley recommends taking the scenic route through Stamford Bridge before continuing to the coast. It is a great choice for a relaxed day trip, with seaside views and nearby stops including Filey and Flamborough.
Glenmore and Aviemore, Scotland
Simon recommends the Cairngorms for mountain views, woodland and lochs. It is ideal for a longer break, with plenty of places to stop and explore.
Scotland and Northern England
Katie’s 2,000 mile road trip included Warkworth, Edinburgh, Fort William, Skye, Mull, Stirling, Kielder and North Yorkshire. It offered dramatic scenery and plenty of wildlife along the way.
Forest of Bowland, Clitheroe
Harriet recommends the Forest of Bowland for quiet roads, rolling hills and peaceful views. The area around Clitheroe is a great starting point for a scenic day trip.
Before you set off
Check your tyres, fluids, fuel or charging stops, breakdown cover and insurance before a longer journey.
Sharing the driving?
ALA Short Term Motor Insurance offers comprehensive cover from one hour to 28 days. It may be useful if you are borrowing a car or sharing the driving on a road trip.
From coastal roads to mountain scenery, there are plenty of memorable summer drives across the UK.
The hardest part may be deciding where to go first.
