Refund and Cancellation Policy

GAP insurance and Extended Warranty

All of the GAP insurance policies sold by ALA allow a 30-day cooling off period.

To obtain a refund please contact us within 30 days of the policy start date and we will refund the amount paid in full, as long no claim is being processed at the time.

Excess and Key Insurance

These two policies have a 14-day cooling off period.

To obtain a refund please contact us within 14 days of the policy start date and we will refund the amount paid in full, as long no claim is being processed at the time.

Cycle Insurance

Please contact us within 14 days of the policy start date and we will refund the amount paid in full, as long no claim is pending or being processed at the time.

Outside of cooling off period

For all ALA GAP insurance policies:

  • As long as no claim is pending, you may cancel your policy at any time. You will receive a pro-rata refund proportionate to the number of unexpired days remaining during the Period of Insurance subject to the deduction of an administration fee of £35. To request a cancellation please contact ALA on 01653 916304.

For policies with EC prefix:

a. Purchased before 01/04/2019:

  • You may cancel the insurance cover at any time by contacting ALA on 01653 916304, however no refund of premium will be payable.

b. Purchased on or after 01/04/2019:

  • As long as no claim is pending, you may cancel your policy at any time. You will receive a pro-rata refund proportionate to the number of unexpired days remaining during the Period of Insurance. To request a cancellation please contact ALA on 01653 916304.

For policies with the prefix AWI, KC, MIS, MOT, SDI, TYI:

  • You may cancel the insurance cover at any time by contacting ALA on 01653 916304, however no refund of premium will be payable.

For policies with the prefix HL:

  • You may cancel the insurance cover at any time by contacting ALA on 01653 916304. You will be entitled to a pro-rata refund of premium provided that you have paid your annual premium in full. Where you have made a claim, and wish to cancel your policy you will not be entitled to any refund.

For policies with a prefix WTY:

a. Policies purchased before August 2018:

  • If you wish to cancel your policy after 30 days you will be entitled to a pro-rata return of premium, providing you have not made a claim.

b. Policies purchased on or after 1st August 2018:

  • You will receive a pro-rata refund based on the number of full unexpired months of cover remaining, less the cost of any accepted claim and a £30.00 administration fee.

For Cycle Insurance policies:

  • If your premium has been paid in full, you can cancel at any time and you will receive a pro-rata refund for the remaining period provided you have not made and do not intend to make a claim.
  • If you pay your premium monthly, your policy will be cancelled with immediate effect. There will be no refund of premium due as the premium paid will have only been in respect of the cover already received. If a claim has been made by you we will not refund any premium and you must still continue to pay us the monthly premium for the remainder of your annual term.
