No matter who you need to speak to, the ALA team and our claims administrators are based solely in the UK.
A Rated Underwriters
ALA Warranty is an insurance based product. Our underwriters are UK General Insurance Limited on behalf of Great Lakes Insurance SE, an A rated underwriter. We are fully authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and your policy is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Age and Mileage
There are no age or mileage limits during the course of your ALA Warranty. Cover from some providers will cease if your car exceeds their ongoing age or mileage limitations during the course of your cover.
ALA offer the option for franchised dealer repair. At the start of the policy you can select the option for any work done under the policy to be carried out by a franchised garage.
Wear and Tear
ALA Warranty will cover for wear and tear after just 30 days or 1000 miles.
Some extended warranties which do not cover wear and tear, charge an extra premium for doing so or limit a payout on wear and tear until after 90 days.
ALA Warranty will cover up to £65.00 including VAT towards the cost of diagnostics.
Depending upon your vehicle and which cover option you take, ALA Warranty gives you the option of a £300, £500, £750, £1,000, £2,000 or Full Vehicle Value claim limit.
Whilst some providers will have a compulsory excess ALA give you the option of a £0, £25 or £50 excess so that you can tailor your policy and premium to your budget.
ALA Warranty includes MOT cover as standard. We will pay up to £300 for the failure of certain items on an MOT test, subject to a £10 excess.
Parts Replaced in Pairs
Certain parts which may need to be replaced as the result of mechanical failure may be part of a pair, with experts suggesting the requirement for both components to be replaced together, even where the second has no fault. ALA Warranty covers the replacement of certain parts as a pair where recommended, including shock absorbers.
Buying a car isn’t cheap; the cost can seem never ending sometimes. This is why ALA offer you the facility of protecting your car the affordable way. You’re covered as soon as you buy your Warranty, either online or from one of our advisors over the phone, but you can spread the cost by Direct Debit over 10 months.
If you sell your car your ALA Warranty can either be transferred to the new owner of the vehicle FREE OF CHARGE or transfer the unused pro rata premium onto a new ALA Warranty for your replacement car, provided no claims have been made.
Your ALA Warranty does not include any betterment clauses. We simply repair the faulty part and pay your chosen VAT registered repairer directly for the full cost of the repair.
Other warranty cover often includes a betterment clause. This means that if your car is repaired to an extent to which it might be deemed to be better or more valuable than it was before the repair was carried out, you could be liable to make a contribution towards the cost of that repair.
Cover for up to 60 days in the EU, in a 12 month time period, if your car breaks down whilst you are travelling abroad.
If the mechanical failure of one part leads to the failure of another, it is most often the case that most warranty providers will list consequential damage on their list of exclusions from cover. ALA Warranty covers parts which need to be repaired or replaced due to the failure of a separate part, as standard.
